After Nine Years of Believing, This Couple Received Their Miracle Baby Through Adoption

3 min

For many couples, the journey toward parenthood can be filled with hope and faith. Rodney and Paula Mooney know the perseverance it takes on that journey as well. After nine years of believing God for children, their story became a powerful testimony of faith, obedience, and the unexpected blessing of a miracle baby through adoption.

If you’ve ever found yourself waiting on God to fulfill a promise, this story is for you.

Rodney and Paula, both alumni of Kenneth Copeland Bible College, spent nearly a decade believing for a family. During those years, they put their faith into action by preparing nurseries in two different homes while living in Texas. Even though they hadn’t yet seen the manifestation of their prayers, they remained committed to serving and believing God and pursuing the assignment He had given them.

In July 2023, the Mooneys moved from Texas back to Nebraska to plant a church. As part of the move, they gave away almost all the baby items they had collected over the years. They kept only one small box filled with meaningful keepsakes.

A few months after moving, Paula attended a banquet at a local pregnancy center with her mother. The ministry of adoption and prenatal care deeply touched her heart. She began asking the Lord how she could become more involved. Soon after, she felt led to donate the final box of baby items she had saved.

Then, an employment opportunity opened at the pregnancy center.

Paula applied for the administrative position and believed it was the right fit. After nearly two months of interviews, however, she was turned down. It would have been easy to become discouraged, but Paula held on to a word she sensed from the Lord: “Though it tarry, wait for it.”

Months later, the pregnancy center contacted her and offered her the position after all. Eventually, she was promoted to executive director. Looking back, she can see how believing God faithfully was positioning her for something far greater than she could imagine.

Nine Years of Praying, A Life-Changing Moment

One summer day in 2025, while serving as executive director of the pregnancy center, Paula met a woman who stopped in seeking help during the final days of her pregnancy. Paula prayed with her, and just a few days later, the woman delivered a healthy baby.

When Paula visited the family in the hospital, she met the baby’s grandmother, who asked where Paula attended church. Soon afterward, the grandmother began attending Victory Life Family Church, the church Rodney and Paula had planted in Ogallala, Nebraska.

Months later, another member of that same family moved to town while expecting a baby girl. She and the baby’s father visited Victory Life Family Church for two consecutive Sundays.

Then, on Jan. 11, 2026, they approached Rodney and Paula with a life-changing question: “Would you consider adopting our baby?”

The answer came quickly.

After believing God for children for nine years, Rodney and Paula were open to adoption. In fact, years earlier, Rodney had received a name in his heart for a future daughter: Alice.

The expectant parents shared that they believed God was leading them to place their baby with the Mooneys.

Three short weeks later, their lives changed forever.

On Feb. 5, 2026, Alice Faith was born. Rodney and Paula were both present in the delivery room, and Paula had the honor of cutting the umbilical cord. The next evening, they brought their miracle baby home.

After nine years of praying, believing, and trusting God, their daughter had finally arrived.

What makes this testimony so inspiring isn’t only the adoption itself. It’s the way Rodney and Paula remained faithful while they waited. They planted a church. They served families in their community. They followed God’s leading even when circumstances didn’t make sense.

Their story is a reminder that God often works behind the scenes through relationships, obedience, and divine appointments.

Never Give Up, Never Lose Hope

For anybody who has stood in faith for a promise, the Mooneys’ testimony serves as an encouragement. God’s faithfulness is not limited by time. What seems delayed is never denied when we continue to trust Him.

Today, Rodney and Paula are preparing for the final adoption hearing, which will take place when Alice Faith is 6 months old. As they look at their precious daughter, they see more than the fulfillment of a dream. They see a testimony of God’s goodness.

Sometimes the answer to prayer arrives in ways we never expected.

For the Mooneys, the path to parenthood came through adoption. Their miracle baby arrived through a family willing to trust God, a church willing to love people, and two believers who never stopped believing.

If you’re waiting for God to fulfill a promise, let this testimony encourage you. Continue serving. Continue trusting. Continue believing.

You never know when a divine appointment could change everything.

And just as Rodney and Paula discovered, God can use adoption to bring about a miracle baby in a way that only He could orchestrate.
