For Duncan, it all started when he was young, sitting in on a lesson at Superkid Academy (SKA) during the Southwest Believers’ Convention  in Fort Worth, Texas. What he learned at SWBC stirred his faith and helped him see what was possible with God. Those early seeds mattered more than he realized.

When he needed a pair of basketball shoes and his family didn’t have the money, he had a choice to make. He could focus on what was missing, or he could trust God. He chose to believe, to pray, and even to give what little money he had as an offering. When the shoes came, it wasn’t just about having something new to wear. It was a moment that marked the beginning of his spiritual growth.

As he got older, the stakes got bigger, but so did his faith. When it came time to pay his school tuition at the private Catholic high school he attended, the pressure was real. Yet, so was the idea of kingdom living. Duncan leaned into what he had learned. He practiced sowing and reaping, giving and believing even when the outcome wasn’t visible.

Once again, God showed up in a way that brought peace and provision. With each experience, his spiritual growth deepened, and his trust in God became more personal.

Keep Going Even When the Answer Isn’t Immediate

One of the most meaningful parts of Duncan’s story came when he believed for a car. While a student at Oral Roberts University (ORU), Duncan had the opportunity to meet Kenneth Copeland and shared with him his faith goal of having a reliable vehicle. Understanding the principle of sowing and reaping, Duncan realized he had nothing left to give financially.

It would have been easy to sit back and do nothing. Instead, he looked around and found the only thing he had left, a brand-new ORU Basketball T-shirt. It may have seemed small, but to him, it mattered. He chose to give it to Copeland as a seed, trusting that God saw his heart. That’s the essence of Kingdom living, choosing obedience even when it feels simple or sacrificial.

At that moment, Copeland prayed with Duncan and believed for a debt-free car. Time passed, and nothing happened right away. If you’ve ever waited for an answered prayer, you know how that feels. Doubt can creep in, and it’s tempting to give up. Duncan felt that too.

But instead of walking away, he kept going. He reminded himself of what he believed, speaking it out loud as he saw the kind of car he was trusting for. This steady persistence is where spiritual growth really takes root.

Then, one day, everything shifted. He received a message inviting him to test-drive a car. When he got there, it was exactly what he had been believing for, down to the smallest detail. And when he asked the price, the answer caught him off guard. It was being given to him. For free. In that moment, what once felt distant became real, and his faith was strengthened in a whole new way.
